DAN

college essay coach

Wesleyan University, BA in Cultural Anthropology

Dan is an educator based in Brooklyn, NY. As a lover of languages and fluent speaker of English, Brazilian Portuguese, and Spanish (and he’s just started studying Arabic on Duolingo!), Dan has a passion for helping all of his students become confident writers and communicators. Recently, Dan has worked with Wesleyan undergraduates, New York City-based college applicants, and Haitian refugees to develop the tools they need to express themselves effectively through language.

While pursuing his BA in Cultural Anthropology at Wesleyan University, Dan spent a semester in São Paulo, Brazil, where his parents were born. There, he explored the city’s vibrant samba scene, studied Afro-Lusophone literature, and volunteered with a local design and architecture collective, USINA. After graduating, Dan worked as a writer and researcher, consulting for cultural institutions like Philadelphia Contemporary and the Nelson-Atkins Museum.

When he is not guiding students, Dan can be found exploring the marshes of the New Jersey Meadowlands, creating music, and occasionally making a mean borscht.
