Education

University of California, Berkeley, Ph.D. Candidate in Philosophy
Yale Law School, J.D.
Yale University, B.A. in Philosophy (summa cum laude; Phi Beta Kappa)

Jerry has wide-ranging teaching experience, and has helped students succeed at a variety of standardized tests, including the LSAT and (his personal favorite) the FBI Special Agent Exam. He loves puzzles, brain teasers, and word games, and he brings that love of mental sport to his teaching.

Jerry is currently working on a Ph.D. in Philosophy, and so he always keeps one eye on the bigger picture. While helping his students, he strives to teach “beyond the test,” pointing out insights that students can carry over into their other academic endeavors.

Jerry is a native Spanish speaker and has lived in Puerto Rico, Germany, and Japan.

What LogicPrep Tutors Say About Jerry

Jerry is thoughtful and considerate with all his students. And he also teaches college!

Jerry is a very thoughtful person, with a love for culture, for Japanese, for philosophy. He’s secretly an honors student from law school but went on a different road.

I love Jerry’s enormous erudition, and all the knowledge and reasoning abilities that come from his background in law and philosophy. He is simultaneously so humble—he never talks as if he knows everything, just opens the field to everyone who wants to be there.

Jerry is the most well-prepared tutor I know—he always has on hand-annotated versions of each standardized test his students take! His tutoring is not one of gimmicks and tricks; he is thorough in his approach to these tests and values engagement with the text and substance of each exam.
