The New ACT is Officially (and Exclusively) Here
A new era of the ACT is officially here. Last year, the ACT announced several changes to its test, with a gradual transition for paper and international test takers. However, the July 12 ACT will be the last ACT in its "legacy" form.
All students planning to take the ACT in September 2025 or beyond - whether in the US or internationally, whether on paper or on the computer - will be taking the newer "Enhanced" ACT.
Our December blog post, The New ACT in 2025: What's Changing and When, broke down the new changes. Further, LogicPrep’s Academic Advisor, Marissa, and Senior Tutors Jamie and Gretchen, dove into the new ACT and what it means for you in this recorded webinar.
Here are some of the highlights, along with a few important insights from your LogicPrep experts!
1. The test will be shorter with fewer questions on each section.
LogicPrep Insight: Fewer questions means that each question will matter more, leaving less room for mistakes. In other words, each question answered incorrectly will bring you further from a 36 than it used to.
2. The Science section is now optional, regardless of testing country or testing format.
LogicPrep Insight: LogicPrep advises students to take the Science section, as some colleges, like Boston University, announced that they will only accept ACT scores that include the Science section.
3. The score for each section, total score, and Science section will still be out of 36.
LogicPrep Insight: With Science as optional, your new composite score (and superscore) will only include the English, Reading, and Math sections. In turn, these sections are now weighted more in your overall composite score.
