College Spotlight: Tufts

What is it that makes Tufts University so great? Is it the academics? The sports or Greek life? The student groups and organizations or the study abroad programs? We'll let you decide.

Tufts University is located in Medford, Massachusetts, not far from downtown Boston, which we all know is alive with history, culture and so much more. But of course, Tufts offers many great opportunities on campus as well. Founded in 1852, Tufts is located at the highest point on Walnut Hill as a "light on the hill." Tufts' campus is rich with history and beautiful, old buildings.

In 2015, Forbes ranked Tufts 15th among Research Universities, and ranked the undergraduate school 24th in its America's Top Colleges ranking (which includes military academies, national universities, and liberal arts colleges). Tufts also consistently ranks 3rd in Massachusetts (right after Harvard & MIT) by the US News and World Report. But the impressive rankings aren't the only thing Tufts can brag about; Tufts' official mascot, Jumbo the elephant, is apparently the only school mascot listed in Webster’s Dictionary.

Curious about getting in? For the class of 2020, Tufts accepted 14.3% of 20,223 applicants, making Tufts the 17th most selective university in the U.S. So work hard today to boost your chances of attending this amazing university tomorrow!
