B. has a degree in mathematics and neuroscience from the University of Cambridge, and a master's in English Literature from the University of St Andrews. He began a Ph.D. in German at the University of Oxford, but has since moved to the United States to begin a new life.

As a writer, poet, teacher, and translator, he is as passionate about literature and languages as he is about mathematics and the natural world. Having taught high school and undergraduate students for more than ten years, B. has become convinced that there are no bad students...only bad teaching. Whether his students wish to learn French or Physics, German or Geometry, B. encourages them to relish the intellectual challenges they face and pursue a lifelong enthusiasm for learning and discovery.
