Guided by a belief in equity, belonging, and the power of education to unlock potential, Marcel’s career has encompassed admissions, student affairs, and academic program management. He served as an admissions officer at Stanford, Claremont McKenna, USC, and Occidental College and held leadership roles in professional organizations such as Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC), where he served on the executive board and as a NACAC assembly delegate.
Always a learner, Marcel earned a master’s degree in Education with a focus in Enrollment Management and Policy from the University of Southern California (USC). He believes that no one is ever done with their personal growth journeys and encourages others to explore their curiosities, ask bold questions, and pursue what brings them joy. As a first-generation college graduate, Marcel’s own education journey was transformative both academically and personally. He restarted the Queer Straight Alliance during his first two years at Claremont McKenna and held multiple leadership roles on the college programming board—including Head of Events and Concerts, Vice Chair, and President—creating spaces for connection, celebration, and community.
Marcel enjoys movies, reading and writing, experimenting with new recipes, hiking, and going to concerts—especially when shared with good company.
