Her latest endeavor, a weekly Substack titled The Joy Luck Club, is a personal exploration of joy following significant traumatic events. Jess is no stranger to the collegiate landscape, having taught undergraduate Biology and Anatomy & Physiology at three different colleges and universities. A former Park Scholar at North Carolina State University, Jess has spent the past 20 years serving on their selection committee, giving her intimate knowledge of what makes a candidate shine and what makes a story pop off the page.
