After growing up in North Carolina, Gwen set out to discover the wider world. She has worked as an editor and educator in dozens of countries, including the Czech Republic, Australia, China, India, Vietnam, Argentina, and Malaysia. Her international experiences bring a global perspective to how she helps students develop their ideas and voices.
For the past eight years, Gwen has worked closely with international students on their college admissions essays while also teaching at the university level. As an educator, she views writing as both a craft and a process of discovery. She is dedicated to helping students find their unique, authentic voice and encourages them to see writing as a tool for better understanding the world around them.
While completing her PhD in literature, Gwen developed expertise in both academic and creative writing. She was the co-editor-in-chief of an international graduate journal and led writing bootcamp sessions for fellow PhD students. Her scholarly work has appeared in leading academic journals, while her creative work has been submitted to literary anthologies and national writing contests. She has completed two novels and is currently working on a young adult series.
