Tips for Test Day

  • Get a good night’s sleep.

  • Bring a healthy snack. You will want some fuel during your ten-minute break.

  • Bring a light jacket or layer to the testing room. You never know how strong the air conditioning will be.

  • Most importantly, bring two sharpened #2 pencils, an acceptable calculator (we strongly recommend the TI-84), and, for the real test date, a valid photo ID and your printed admission ticket.

  • Show up a few minutes early. We don’t want to start without you.

  • Pace yourself and pay attention to the 5 minute warnings you will be given by your proctor. Bring your LogicPrep SAT/ACT watch - it's another great tool to help you achieve your best.

  • If you do not know an answer or are running out of time then you should guess! There is no penalty for a wrong answer. No answers should ever be left blank on the ACT or the New SAT.

  • Keep your pencil moving. All questions are worth the same, so don't waste time on hard ones only to run out of time for the easy ones.

  • On the verbal sections, always come up with your own answers before looking at the answer choices. The answer choices are designed to trick you, so rely on yourself, not on the answer choices.

  • Relax and be confident in your answer choices.
